Pat Chaney was born and raised in Central Texas where he developed a love for the outdoors as well as a love for drawing.  He graduated from Texas Tech and worked ten years as a park ranger for the National Park Service.  He also worked in several western parks and grew to love and appreciate the unique beauty of the desert.  The majesty of Big Bend National Park is one of his favorite subjects.

But it was while working in a children's home in the Texas Hill Country that Pat began to develop his natural artistic abilities of wood carving and painting.

Pat had the recent honor of exhibiting his work in a one man show at the OPOMAC in Graham, Texas.  While preferring to paint with acrylics he sometimes mixes media including pastels, pen and ink, and pencil.

Art is all-encompassing,” says Chaney. “Even when not painting, I’m thinking of the next painting, watching what others do and studying ways to improve my skills. To me, painting is simply fun.”
